London Waterloo is the biggest and busiest main line termini in the UK. It is owned by Network Rail. Bailey Rail was awarded the project for installation of the new Ticket Gating System.

Practice

Bailey Rail was appointed in February 2008 to provide the new Electrical, Mechanical and Telecommunications Services to New Automated Ticket Barrier Gateline including:-

  • Detail Design to Form B
  • New Lighting and Lighting Control for the new Gateline canopy
  • Power will be supplied and installed throughout the Gateline for CIS and CCTV
  • New Power Sub – Distribution
  • New multi CMS (Cable Management System)
  • There were 74 cameras. Bailey rail had the task of relocating approximately 40 to cover the building modifications and then later relocate approximately 50 – 60 to cover the new proposed locations covering the new automatic gates
  • CIS Upgrade and Enabling Works
  • Mechanical Services Enabling Works

Bailey Rail has achieved the key challenge of maintaining existing services, and minimising disruption to the millions of rail passengers that pass through Waterloo each day.

Bailey Rail have established a close working relationship with Network Rail’s gating Subcontractor ‘Cubic’ throughout to ensure seamless integration and a fully integrated detailed design with close liaison of all major players.
