Safety First & Foremost

Health and safety is first & foremost in the eyes of NG Bailey and it is up to us to ensure that it is the same for every company that works with us.

Our Safety First & Foremost campaign – tailored to put safety at the front of everyone’s mind - was launched late last year and has already helped to reduce the number of reportable incidents to an all-time low in 2010/11.  Our achievements mean that all Group companies attained a Gold Award by the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA).

While reportable incidents decline we cannot rest on our laurels and continue to challenge ourselves to further improve our safety performance.

A new initiative for this year has been the roll-out of a poster campaign, which uses visual images alongside hard-hitting messages, to show the implications of poor health and safety.

We have also launched a quarterly Safety First & Foremost Awards scheme to promote best practice in health and safety and reward excellence in leadership, performance and innovation.

Sub-contractor safety engagement days ensure that high levels of safety are maintained at all times when working in partnership with other companies.  The events cover topics such as near miss reporting, behavioural improvement plans and occupational health.
