Four of NG Bailey’s apprentices have been recognised at the UK SkillElectric, SkillPlumb and SkillPipe finals.

The events, which were held in London, are organised to recognise the talents of electrical, plumbing and mechanical apprentices from across the building services engineering sector.

The event sees short-listed competitors from apprentice colleges and schemes from all over the country compete in a two day challenge of real-life scenarios, held under timed conditions.

Ross Fraser, from the central Scotland office, came first in the SkillPipe event, whilst Matthew Crane was awarded first place for his electrical skills in the SkillsElectric event. Matthew works in the Bristol branch.

Congratulations also goes to Darren Whiley from the Birmingham branch and Shane Trevitt, from the north west, who both came second plane in the SkillsElectric and SkillsPlumb event respectively.

Alison Ashworth-Brown, head of NG Bailey's engineering academy, comments on the success: “This is a fantastic achievement for Ross, Matthew, Darren and Shane as this event recognises the best of the best.

“It is also a fantastic achievement for NG Bailey and proves that our scheme really is first class, not just in the building services industry, but also the wider construction industry.”

The four winners now have the chance of being selected to represent the UK in next year’s WorldSkills event.
